Hey Dire...glad I could help you out with the grin & happy to hear you're back to work & getting back into the swing of things. The month I was out recently about made me loopy.

Generally speaking, I agree with Cliff & the others that responding to this jack-off only encourages him & plays straight into his fun & games. What can I say? Sometimes "you" just get bored enough where "you" gotta kick a turd...

Ghost: I guess if I must do penance, Portchester's a sweet place to do it. First Deal & Bird, right? Frigging great run.

So far, I've been making my acts of contrition with

http://www.archive.org/details/gd69-10-25.sbd.jagla.81.sbefail.shnf

A partial Winterland show, but a sweet-ass Dark Star & Stills sitting in on Lovelight. But I'm too earnest a sinner to not feel compelled towards Portchester... (Gotta get right with God, right?)

Great post(!) in the "Ron McKernan" post the other day, BTW. I've been spending some time revisiting Copenhagen the last couple days with the idea of a post.

Peace.

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Hijacking a bad thread for a good purpose

I probably wrote this already somewhere. Waaay back in 1972, a very hissy, slightly fast copy of the 4-14-72 tape made it into my greasy little hands. Just the Good Lovin segment. At that time, all I knew was that Pig had "retired." Not knowing what came afterwards on that tour, I listened to the tape and I heard the clear cry of an anguished man--a man in pain. Little did I know. When he died, I got drunk (I rarely did then and never do now--not my thing) and played that tape several times (quite a few friends joined in). It seemed as if it were actually a swan song of sorts--a last yawp, and a fine one at that.

I cannot praise that version enough. There is no better Pig, and there aren't many better Dead jams--plenty as good, perhaps, but few better. God how Jerry moans with Pig, and Keith's piano chording also seems to carry a somber urgency to it.

Any who hasn't listened to this tape--you're going to hell.

This is your shot at redemption.

As for hijacking a bad thread for a good purpose...goddamn right! Roses from fertilizer!

C'mon, ye sinners, belly-up to the altar & get right with God...

In the name of religious diversity:

And, yes, I know I left the Vince-era out. I can't speak intelligibly enough about it...but y'all have got my attention. Someone turn me on. Blow my mind.

And maybe, perhaps that's what we should do about suckee & his ilk: rather than flame the peckerhead or even ignore him, just STACK the responses with monster show-links.

Fuck flaming, I just need a good Dew...

Peace.

mudcatz:

if you like the 10-12-84 Dew, then if you haven't already, check out this Dew...and speaking of rabbits, Jer's solo between the verses of Scarlet just keeps going, and going, and going...

Geee-zus, you weren't kidding! Thanx for that!

I had a blast in '83 & am now scratching my head wondering why I'd been completely ignorant of this show till now. Sheltered life, I guess.

Thank you!
